Welcome to The Hardware Store.A familiar Wicomico County landmark along Rt. 50 (Ocean Gateway) in Mardela Springs, MD between Cambridge & Salisbury, The Hardware Store was originally founded back in 1950 by James and Howard Adkins. In 1985, they both retired and sold the store to David Kenney, who now runs it with his wife Lynette and his two sons, Ryan and Stephen. The Kenneys are longtime residents of Wicomico County with roots in the community that go back several generations. They are all proud to be able to carry on a tradition of customer service and community support that has become a trademark of the business for over 60 years. |

Originally focused on agricultural and farm related products when the business was started back in the fifties, The Hardware Store has diversified and adapted to the needs of the community over the years by adding more and more in the way of residential, commercial and homeowner products and services. So, while the original building may have the look and feel of an old-time hardware store, it is actually a full service business able to handle almost anything their customers request. The Kenneys are proud to carry on the tradition started by the Adkins brothers so many years before that if they didn’t have it... then you don’t need it.. |

The Hardware Store has been a local community gathering place for generations of Eastern Shore residents who often stop in just to share the latest news and gossip about happenings from all over Delmarva. They keep plenty of seed, feed plus other farm and livestock necessities all year round in their 6,000 sq. ft. warehouse which features environmentally friendly solar panels for all their power needs.
The Hardware Store also carries plenty of propane, firewood and pellets for your wood stoves to help keep you warm when the weather turns cold. They carry extra snow shovels and salt in the wintertime. And they have everything you need on hand every spring when planting season starts up.

This was the motto that the original owners ran their hardware business by when they first opened their doors over 60 years ago and it is the golden rule that still governs the business today. The Hardware Store still does a lot of other things the old fashioned way, too. They sell nails by the pound and cut rope by the foot.
